During the search process I spoke primarily with Christina Jolly in the City office. I saw several flats through Hurford Salvi Carr in the Clerkenwell area, and I found Hurford Salvi Carr to consistently have the most appealing properties to me. Christina was always friendly and knowledgeable in the viewings, and not only did she provide good information on the particular flat that I was viewing, but she also gave helpful advice on my general search process and in-depth knowledge on the Clerkenwell neighbourhood.
Once I found my flat, making an offer and the subsequent bidding process was straightforward. While under offer, Christina helped to make the stressful process of completing as least stressful as possible, while also helping to ensure the sale completed efficiently. I completed in a matter of six weeks, despite suffering a number of small hiccups on my side and against the backdrop of a rising market. When you showed me the flat, I was most impressed by your knowledge of the details of the property, and the area, as well as your good relationship with the Vendor. Together with your very pleasant personality and your natural friendliness, these made it easy for me to decide to proceed with the purchase.
As you are aware, the sale process was not a smooth one and, but for your persistence in following up and for your hard work in general, it is doubtful that the Vendor and I would have stayed the course and I would not have been able to acquire the property. What struck me, and which I found highly commendable, was how active you were in trying to resolve the various issues that arose during the course of the transaction. In particular, when a problem emerged in relation to the title to the car park lot, you suggested, and worked with the Vendor’s solicitor so that I obtained, an indemnity policy. When there was a delay by my bankers’ valuer in delivering a re-valuation of the property (without taking the car park into account), you went out of your way to try to contact him in an effort to expedite the process. This was well beyond the call of duty.

In the preceding fourteen months prior to finding the property I had dealt with numerous agents and been shown a number properties that were under offer already; this led me to wonder what would happen once I myself had an offer accepted.
The day after we agreed the sale price for the property I received an unprovoked email from you assuring me that all further viewings had been cancelled and the status on the website changed to “under offer”; Believe me when I say this was extremely well received, this email also turned out to be the first of a string positive and constructive correspondences from you despite the many complications and delays throughout the purchase.
I would not hesitate in dealing with you again as a vendor or purchaser or recommending you to anyone I know.

Once our offer had been accepted, we were keen to complete on the purchase as soon as possible. There were a number of complications with the property and the vendor’s solicitors were initially very slow. Sebastian was very focussed on ensuring that any obstacles to exchange were addressed as soon as possible, contacting the relevant parties to move things along, being available to discuss all relevant issues, and providing regular updates. He was very hands on, and even phoned the council up to chase them on local search results!
This proactive approach and Sebastian’s strong communication skills ensured the transaction was completed much more quickly than it otherwise would have been. Indeed, we set a target completion date and the work from Sebastian ensured that completion happened on the target date.
As buyers we were highly satisfied with the professional approach of Hurford Salvi Carr, and would certainly use them in the future if we decide to sell the property given the professional approach, the fact that Sebastian was very pleasant, and these agents are people I would be happy to have as my representatives.
Sebastian is what I call a ‘quiet’ negotiator, someone who puts the interests of all the parties concerned to get what they all want from the property at hand. He made sure that we were regularly informed of progress via email, and with important issues to call, which made the process manageable. Couldn’t ask for more.
Despite the complication of me being resident in Hong Kong, their efforts assisted greatly in making the transaction as smooth as one could hope.
